Family and Fatherland

Giovanni Battista Scaroni, director of Italian Youth of the Lictor in Vicenza and landowner in Tripolitania, was an amateur filmmaker. Family and Fatherland explores Scaroni's images, taken between 1934 and 1938: family moments, field trips, but also the journeys to the former colonies in Libya and rallies of Italian Fascist youth organization. A private point of view on the regime at its peak, in which even the home movies reveal a certain inspiration of propaganda.

a new addition to my personal top 10 list! One of the best movies I've ever seen. It's an extremely complicated movie.

Enjoyed it very much. Don't write it off because of the bad reviews. Give it 20-30 minutes and decide for yourself.
