Optimistic Voices

Translating characteristics that tend to denote a specific site has become a way to test play as a study of relation, ontology, place and utility. This playground study is inspired by the position of being, 'At the four corners of the round table,' a line from a children's speech play, or nonsense rhyme, in Barbara Kirshenblatt-Gimblett's text Speech Play (pp. 108-9). The rhyme is referenced by Susan Stewart in Nonsense: Aspects of Intertextuality in Folklore and Literature (pp. 72-73) as a space where all fictions, regardless of opposition and paradox, are allowed to exist, to be and not be at the same time, in the frame of the discourse.
