Art, For What?

This film aims to show a different side of Goma, Eastern Congo, than is typically portrayed in the media. Rather than framing Eastern Congo as a war-torn region and its people as victims, this documentary seeks to show the strength, resilience, and creativity of the Congolese people. The focus is on the role of the arts in Goma, and the power that artists hold to create change. Through the voices and perspectives of local artists, international humanitarian aid workers, cultural operators, and national politicians, this film explores some of the greatest challenges that artists in Goma face as they engage in the arts and artistic expression within this particular context.
