Papa's Journey

Papa's Journey follows two men's attempts to retrace the path their grandfather (Nikola Ogrizovic, better known as Papa) took as he escaped Nazi ravaged Europe. Starting at the family home in Ravenshead, Nottinghamshire (UK) and finishing in Papa's village, Brlog, Croatia Sam and Chris Ogrizovic completed a journey of 1200 miles. Sam and Chris were kicked off trains, camped in squalid conditions, got arrested by local police and sometimes were completely lost. However, they also got food from sympathetic travellers, hitched with larger than life truckers and upon reaching Croatia were aided by two hippies who helped translate. It was an adventure filled with drama, joy, humour and fascinating characters. Sam and Chris not only wanted to reach Brlog, they wanted to raise £5000 for the Alzheimer's Society (the disease that claimed Papa's life) and try and find out what happened to Papa's mother and two sisters after the war.

I liked everything about the movie from the beginning till the end. Although there were some plot holes, but considering how awesome the movie was it could be compromised.

Usually I try to be careful with over hyping a film, or setting the expectations too high, as film geeks all are guilty for, however for Alastair Collinson, this really is not possible.
