Gunpowder Ink

'Gunpowder Ink' is a short documentary film in which a contemporary alchemist creates homemade ink by combining gunpowder's natural ingredients. Conducted to mark the 10th anniversary of a mass shooting in a Salt Lake City Mall, the experiment unfolds like an action painting, as macro photography shows the ingredients-charcoal, sulphur and saltpetre-merge into exquisite patterns. 'Gunpowder Ink' presents the tragic paradox that the same combination of simple materials that can unleash destructive violence have the power to create such intimate beauty.
