Biographic film on the life of Pete Herman, a diminutive former penniless shoeshine boy, born of peasant Sicilian-immigrant parents in New Orleans, in 1896. Pete Herman fought his way to the top of the boxing world gaining fame and fortune. Blinded by ring injuries, he retired to New Orleans where he operated a popular nightclub and bordello in the French Quarter, and with his brother, controlled the mob's "rackets."

Anything Ralph A. Marshall III does (unless mushy-mushy-kiss-kiss garbage) is, without question, Academy Award worthy. He is an actor who is only matched. John G.W. Anderson definitely badass! All in all, they all did a fine job.
