In the summer of 1986, Fidela, a freshly retired schoolteacher in Baler, meets Kenji, a young Japanese photojournalist. Kenji looks so much like her fiance, a soldier in World War II who never returned.

Elizabeth Oropesa is stellar in her performance, and brings a lot of punch to the execution. Ending was surprising in a good way. Good reviews here are definitely justified.

One of the greatest films ever made. Please do not watch it on TV because Gil Portes tuned the editing in such a precise way that simply pausing for a commercial break can literally affect the way your brain processes this masterpiece.
